The current officers of the Women's Guild are :

The Church of Saint Gregory has a very active Women's Guild. Membership is open to all women, eighteen years and older, who are members of St. Gregory's parish, with an interest in the Guild and its purpose.

The purpose of the Guild is to enable the women of the parish to serve in ways which are fulfilling to themselves as adults; to support the pastor by participating in charitable, social and educational activities in the parish; and to meet and welcome new women of the parish in a relaxed, informal setting.

The Guild meets monthly, from September through June with the exception of January on the first Thursday of the month. Meetings are held in the parish center with the instillation of officers taking place at the October meeting.

The officers of the Guild include, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The officers are elected to serve a two year term. Their term begins at the close of the October meeting. There is an election of officers. The nominating chair presents a slate of candidates at the September meeting, names are also taken from the floor. Members vote on the slated candidates with the majority vote elected. The officers are not elected as a governing body but to offer guidlines and to ensure meetings and projects are conducted in an orderly fashion and that the goals and the by-laws of the Guild are maintained.

The President's duties include, presiding over meetings and overseeing all activities. She also plans the program for the year and represents the Guild on the Parish Council. The Vice President presides in the absence of the President. The secretary keeps minutes of all general meetings and any necessary communications. The Treasurer receives all funds and keeps accurate records of receipts and expenditures. All expenitures are paid by check.

The President will name standing committee chairs as deemed necessary. Some of the committees include:

Nominating:
The Nominating Committee seeks a slate of officers and presents this slate at the October meeting.

Hospitality:
The Hospitality Committee assures that refreshments are provided at all meetings.

Reception Committee:
The Reception Committee arranges refreshments, decorations and the necessary help for receptions conducted by the Guild such as First Pennance, Confirmation, and Sunday coffee and donuts.

Publicity:
The Publicity Committee sees that monthly meetings and all newsworthy events are published in the parish bulletin, local newspapers, the Catholic Light and/or all other appropiate media services.

Migrant Committee:
The Migrant Committee serves as a liaison between the Migrant Program Coordinator on Parish Council and the Guild. They provide assistance with sorting, washing and packing used clothing, as well as assisting with the annual festival in August.

Fund Raising:
The Fund Raising Committee is responsible for planning and executing fund raising activties. All proceeds are donated to charitable causes.

Historian:
The Guild Historian is responsible for keeping a photographic record of special activities that illustrates the Guild's History.

Membership Committee:
The Membership Committee seeks ways to increase membership in the Guild, especially among new parishioners. Aslo responsible for Sunshine activities that remember special occations that involves the Guild's members.

The Guild also has special activities that members take part in. Some of those activities include:

The Giving Tree-this involves, designing, constructing, and decorating the Giving Tree each Christmas season. This service project provides gifts for the patients at Clarks Summit State Hospital.


Food From the Heart-this worthwhile project provides food to the Abington Ministerium Food Bank. The organizers are responsible for publicity, collecting, and delivery of the food donated.


Baby Shower-this service project organizes a baby shower at the December meeting for Birthright. The Guild also donates one large item as a collective gift from the guild membership.

Rosaries-this committee purchases supplies and instructs the Guild members on how to make rosaries. These special rosaries are donated to area nursing homes, First Communicants or others as requested.

Day of Recollection-this is a special day, usually on the first Wednesday after Ash Wednesday. The chair of this activity secures a retreat leader, schedules a date with the Retreat House and organizes reservations.
